Police Hoping Tattoos on Deceased Hispanic Woman Can Lead to Identification in Cape May County

DENNIS TOWNSHIP, N.J. — The New Jersey State Police is asking for the public’s help in identifying human remains discovered in Belleplain State Forest earlier this month.

The remains, found on December 22, are believed to belong to a Caucasian or Hispanic female, approximately 5 feet, 1 inch tall, officials said. Investigators also found two distinctive tattoos on the individual: a koi fish tattoo on her upper right back and a rose tattoo extending from her left ribs to her hip.

Additional items recovered at the scene include a unique yoga mat and a necklace, both of which authorities have released images of to aid in identification efforts.

The New Jersey State Police Troop ‘A’ Woodbine Station and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office are actively investigating the case and are seeking assistance from anyone who may recognize the tattoos or personal belongings.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the NJSP Troop ‘A’ Woodbine Station at (609) 861-5698 or the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office at (609) 465-1135 ext. 3480.

Investigators hope the tattoos and belongings will lead to crucial details about the victim’s identity.
