South Jersey Drug Trafficking Operation Ends With Multiple Arrests

PEMBERTON, N.J. — A four-month investigation into a heroin mill in Pemberton has resulted in the arrest of seven individuals and the seizure of significant quantities of heroin, fentanyl, methamphetamine, and other narcotics, authorities announced.

The New Jersey State Police Strategic Investigations Unit – Central (SIUC), in collaboration with the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office, the Drug Enforcement Administration – Camden Resident Office, and local police departments, identified William J. Anderson, 60, as the primary trafficker of heroin, methamphetamine, and cocaine. Investigators also determined that David W. Furter, 61, was supplying bulk methamphetamine.

During surveillance, authorities observed Furter place a red bag into a mailbox at 1495 Junction Road. When officers stopped Furter’s vehicle, they found cocaine and cash. Shortly after, Anderson retrieved the bag and fled when officers attempted to stop him, striking a police vehicle. During the pursuit, Anderson discarded the red bag, which was later recovered and found to contain one pound of methamphetamine. He was eventually taken into custody after colliding with a K-9 unit vehicle.

Search warrants executed at multiple locations resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of drugs, firearms, cash, and drug paraphernalia, further confirming an active narcotics production and distribution operation.

Seized evidence includes:

  • 1 kilogram of fentanyl
  • 1 pound of methamphetamine
  • 12 ounces of cocaine
  • 45 bricks of heroin
  • 275 prescription pills
  • $25,848 in cash
  • Drug-packaging materials
  • Two 12-gauge shotguns

Charges filed:

William J. Anderson faces multiple first-degree charges, including maintaining a CDS production facility and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and cocaine. He is also charged with weapons offenses, eluding police, and tampering with evidence.

Holly Anderson, 26; Linda Mayberry, 47; Marc Pleason, 52; Michael Picozzi, 44; Leslie Anderson, 52; and David W. Furter, 61, face various charges related to drug distribution and possession.

Anderson, Mayberry, Pleason, Picozzi, and Furter were taken to Burlington County Jail, while Holly and Leslie Anderson were released pending a future court date.

Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing as they continue efforts to dismantle drug operations in the region.
