New Jersey police cop pleads guilty to hacking, distributing private images

MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. — A former Mount Laurel police officer has pleaded guilty to illegally accessing social media accounts and distributing private images of multiple women, Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw announced.

Ayron Taylor, 25, of Moorestown, entered guilty pleas on March 3 to charges of computer theft and official misconduct, both second-degree offenses. Under a plea agreement, he faces 12 years in state prison when sentenced in September.

The investigation began in September 2022 after a victim reported that her Snapchat and Facebook accounts had been hacked, with nude images of her sent to contacts and posted online. Authorities later discovered Taylor had accessed approximately 5,000 student email accounts at Rowan College at Burlington County, using them to hack into victims’ social media accounts.

Taylor, who became a full-time officer in 2021, carried out the illegal activity while on duty. The Mount Laurel Police Department suspended him immediately after charges were filed, and he later resigned.

The case was investigated by multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office and Evesham Township Police.
