CHERRY HILL, N.J. — Members of the Cherry Hill Fire Department and Camden Fire Department have successfully completed a specialized Tower Rescue Technician program, equipping them with advanced skills for high-risk, low-frequency incidents.
The 40-hour training, conducted by Elevated Safety, was designed to prepare first responders for complex rescues involving tall structures, such as communication towers and other elevated platforms. The program included hands-on exercises at the Camden County Communications Center Radio Tower and the historic Battleship New Jersey.
Participants practiced tower-based and ground-controlled rescues, along with intricate rigging and access techniques required for emergencies involving precarious heights. The Cherry Hill and Camden departments, along with the Winslow Fire Department, form the Camden County Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team, which handles technical rescues countywide.
“Tower rescues demand highly specialized training and equipment, and programs like this are critical to ensuring readiness for these challenging situations,” the Cherry Hill Fire Department said in a statement, thanking Camden County OEM and Elevated Safety for their support.
The training reflects a broader commitment by Camden County first responders to address complex rescue scenarios effectively and ensure public safety.
