EVESHAM, N.J. — Firefighters have gained ground on a wildfire straddling the Burlington and Camden County line, reaching 50% containment of the blaze that has burned 300 acres in Evesham and Voorhees townships. The New Jersey Forest Fire Service reported that evacuation orders for nearby residents were lifted at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Despite the containment progress, the wildfire continues to pose a risk to surrounding areas, with 104 structures still listed as threatened. Firefighters from Burlington, Camden, and Gloucester counties are working alongside the Forest Fire Service to provide structure protection, aiming to prevent any damage to homes and buildings.

Multiple road closures remain in effect to facilitate firefighting efforts and ensure public safety. Sycamore Avenue and Kettle Run Road, between Braddock Mill Road and Hopewell Road, are both closed, and access to the Sturbridge Lakes Development has been restricted.

The cause of the wildfire is under investigation, with officials yet to determine how the blaze began. The New Jersey Forest Fire Service has deployed fire engines, bulldozers, and ground crews to manage the fire, and containment efforts will continue into Friday.

A further update is expected at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, as crews work to prevent further spread and secure the area.
